Slow Speed Shredder, High Torque Worker

Bulkmatech Cape builds dual-shaft industrial SHREDDERS, ie the BS-Series (core range): BS400, BS600, BS800, BS1000, BS1200, BS1400, BS1600. The model number indicates the nominal internal chamber length in millimetres. Wider (W) and Longer (L) variants exist for special cases, but remain non-standard exceptions.

All BS-Series machines can be supplied as single-drive or dual-drive. We work from proven gearmotors (e.g. 5kW, 7.5kW, 11kW, 15kW, 22kW, 30kW, 45kW and others…), but kW alone is meaningless. Real performance comes from torque at the shaft (Nm), shaft speed (rpm), gearbox ratio, form factor and service factor, matched to the material and duty cycle.

Our shredders are deliberately overbuilt to last a lifetime, use easily sourced locally available parts and can be repaired quickly in South African conditions. Control is via industrial PLCs with advanced VSDs running our in-house ShredLogix platform, which goes far beyond simple auto reverse to manage torque, protect the drive train and stabilise throughput. Multiple levels of protection and the ability to do easy “tuning up” are built in, including overload protection, conservative service factors, mechanical gear couplers, shaft stack compression systems and easily adjustable control parameters.

Around the shredder we can supply dozens of optional extras and integrations, including step-up platforms, seperator technology, incline feed conveyors, exit conveyors, fully customisable hoppers, stainless steel liners, RoRo mounting frames, discharge chutes, bale or bin interface chutes, vapour extraction interfaces, inert-gas shredding cells, hard-faced cutters, special tooth profiles and a range of sensor and telemetry options.

For lifecycle support we offer ShredderCare, a structured maintenance and service programme with defined inspection, training and upgrade options.

• 1 × 15 kW, 35 rpm, 4 100 Nm normal operation, up to 8 000 Nm for short periods. Can shred up to 1.7tons an hour of heavy duty, very thick walled 25L HDPE drums and containers using an aggressive 3-tooth cutter design.
