Trial Packs BioChar and Wood Vinigar and what to do!

Bio Char what it looks Like up close!

Charcoal
Charcoal is carbon-rich material made by heating wood (or biomass) at lower temperatures with limited oxygen. It’s mainly used as fuel for cooking, heating, and industrial processes because it burns hot and clean.

Biochar
Biochar is also carbon-rich and made from biomass, but at higher temperatures and in a controlled process. It’s used mainly in agriculture and environmental applications to improve soil health, retain nutrients and water, and lock carbon into the soil for long periods.

In short:

  • Charcoal = energy & fuel

  • Biochar = soil improvement & carbon storage

Note the massive amount of Pores– ideal for absorbing what plants want

Turn Your Soil Into a Living Engine of Growth

BioChar is not just charcoal — it’s a powerful, natural soil enhancer made by carbonizing organic material at high temperature with limited oxygen. When added to soil, it transforms fertility, water retention, and plant health — all while locking away carbon for hundreds of years.

🌱 The Massive Benefits of BioChar

  • Boosts soil fertility – improves nutrient retention and reduces fertilizer loss.
  • Holds water – up to 6× more moisture retention for stronger, drought-resistant plants.
  • Improves microbial life – creates a thriving ecosystem underground.
  • Reduces acidity and balances pH – ideal for all soil types.
  • Saves money – less fertilizer and irrigation needed.
  • Eco-friendly – captures and stores carbon, helping combat climate change.

💪 Perfect For

  • Vegetable gardens
  • Crops and orchards
  • Lawns and landscaping
  • Compost enrichment
  • Regenerative and organic farming

You must charge your Biochar!

1️⃣ Compost charging (best all-round method)

How:

  • Mix biochar into active compost (about 10–20% biochar by volume)

  • Keep compost moist and aerated

  • Let it sit 2–4 weeks (longer is even better)

Why it works:
Microbes, nutrients, and moisture fill the pores of the biochar.

2️⃣ Manure or slurry charging (very effective)

How:

  • Mix biochar with manure, slurry, or chicken litter

  • Keep it damp (not waterlogged)

  • Leave for 1–3 weeks

Tip:
Great for farms, but apply responsibly due to nutrient strength.

3️⃣ Urine charging (fast & powerful)

How:

  • Dilute urine 1:5 to 1:10 with water

  • Soak biochar fully

  • Leave 24–72 hours

Why:
High nitrogen, potassium, and microbes.

4️⃣ Liquid feeds / teas (quick method)

Options:

  • Compost tea

  • Worm tea (vermicompost leachate)

  • Fish emulsion or seaweed extract

How:
Soak biochar 12–48 hours, stirring occasionally.

5️⃣ Wood vinegar (advanced / optional)

Since you’ve worked with wood vinegar before:

  • Dilute wood vinegar 1:100 to 1:300

  • Lightly spray or soak biochar

  • Then blend into compost (don’t apply straight to soil)

Benefit:
Adds organic acids and stimulates microbial activity.

🔑 Key rules to remember

  • Always crush biochar (5–20 mm is ideal)

  • Moist = charged, dry biochar is not

  • Never apply fresh, uncharged biochar directly to soil

🌱 Application rates (after charging)

  • Gardens: 1–2 kg per 10 m²

  • Fields: 0.5–2 tons per hectare

  • Compost: up to 20% of volume

What is wood vinegar?

Wood vinegar (also called pyroligneous acid) is a natural liquid collected when wood is heated in low-oxygen conditions (charcoal or biochar making) and the smoke is cooled and condensed.

It is a brown, smoky-smelling liquid made up of:

  • Organic acids (mainly acetic acid)

  • Alcohols, esters, and phenols

  • Trace nutrients and natural antimicrobial compounds

After settling and filtering, the usable middle fraction is wood vinegar.

What is wood vinegar used for?

Wood vinegar is mainly used in agriculture, composting, soil improvement, and pest management.

Best ways to use wood vinegar

1️⃣ Soil & plant growth stimulant

How to use:

  • Dilute 1:200 to 1:500 with water

  • Apply as a soil drench or foliar spray

Benefits:

  • Stimulates root growth

  • Improves nutrient uptake

  • Encourages beneficial microbes

2️⃣ Compost activator (very effective)

How to use:

  • Dilute 1:100 to 1:300

  • Spray onto compost layers while turning

Benefits:

  • Speeds up decomposition

  • Reduces bad odours

  • Improves compost quality

3️⃣ Charging biochar (best combined method)

How to use:

  • Dilute 1:100 to 1:300

  • Lightly soak or spray biochar

  • Then mix biochar into compost or manure

Important:
Do not apply wood-vinegar-charged biochar directly to soil.

4️⃣ Natural pest & disease control

How to use:

  • Dilute 1:200 to 1:500

  • Spray on soil surface, trunks, or affected areas
(Avoid spraying directly on tender leaves)

Benefits:

  • Repels insects

  • Suppresses fungal and bacterial diseases

5️⃣ Odour control (manure, bins, animal housing)

How to use:

  • Dilute 1:50 to 1:100

  • Spray lightly on problem areas

⚠️ Important rules

  • Never use undiluted wood vinegar

  • Let fresh wood vinegar settle 3–6 months before use

  • Always test on a small area first

  • Stronger is not better — dilution is critical

Simple dilution guide

Use Dilution
Compost 1:100–1:300
Biochar charging 1:100–1:300
Soil / plants 1:200–1:500
Pest control 1:200–1:500
Odour control 1:50–1:100

In one line:

Wood vinegar is liquid smoke from charcoal/biochar production that, when properly diluted, boosts composting, improves soil life, charges biochar, and helps control pests naturally.
